Politicians Steal Mandate, Forge Certificates, Then Ask For Prayers To Succeed – Father Kelvin Ugwu

Father Kelvin Ugwu, a Nigerian missionary priest working in Gambia has criticized the country’s leaders for seeking prayers from the masses after they had stolen the people’s mandate and suppressed others from voting during the election.

Fr Kelvin expressed displeasure over the fact that politicians still had the audacity to ask people to pray for them to succeed when they are in the real sense working against the people.

His statement is contained in a post on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday.

Kelvin also wished the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, a happy birthday.

Recall that Tinubu had called on Nigerians to offer prayers on his behalf in commemoration of his 71st birthday.

The cleric said he would never be against prayers, maintaining it is important but not actually Nigeria’s or Africa’s problem.

Part of his statement read, “It is shameful how we practice religion and call on God’s name in this part of our world. After stealing the people’s mandate, faking his age, ethnic profiling people, suppressing others from voting, and forging certificates, they still have the audacity to ask people to pray for them to succeed.

“As much as I will never be against prayers, it is important I say this. . .the problem with Nigeria or Africa is not prayers. We have had enough prayers. Our problem is that we lack character, it is also due to the lack of character that we even dare to drag God around like he is our mate.”
