Police Urge Abians Not To Entertain Fears As Guber, Assembly Elections Hold (VIDEO)

The top brass of Nigeria Police have urged indigenes and residents of Abia State to go out on Saturday to participate in the governorship and state assembly elections across the 17 local governments without fear of harassment.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police representing the south east zone DIG John Ogbonnaya Amadi gave the assurance on Thursday during a meeting with the management team of Abia State command led by CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala, ABN TV reports.

DIG Ogbonnaya while congratulating the command for a good job done during the February 25th Presidential election said he is in the state to ensure that the March 18 governorship and state assembly elections will be free of security breaches.

He vowed that any individual of group caught breaching the peace of the state will be dealt with according to the law.

We have deployed our men to dominate all the areas that we think problem will erupt“, he said.

The police chief said the force will not tolerate any security hitches that will stop the people from exercising their franchise.

He further stated that it is the primary duty of the police to protect the life and property of the citizens.

The police don’t belong to any political party we belong to Nigeria, we are here to protect the life and property of the people”.

He said “If you want to die come out to disrupt the system, if you love your life keep away, cast your vote and wait for results”.
