Abia Police Command in Abia says it has rescued two persons kidnapped in Amauzo Okpolu Umuobo Community in Osisioma Local Government Area of the State.

The Abia Commissioner of Police, Janet Agbede, who confirmed the rescue on Saturday, said that the Police was still on the trail of the hoodlums.

ABN TV reports that the hoodlums had on Wednesday 7th May 2020 at about 10:00 pm abducted two persons along Okpolu Umuobo road near Jesus Christ of Later Day Saint Church in Osisioma Local Government Area of Aba commercial city.

The victims, Nwankwo Chinedu (male) 42 years and Ndukwe Agu (male) aged 48 years were both abducted at Okpolu Umuobo road, on Wednesday.

When the incident happened, the commissioner of Police, CP Janet Agbede got intelligence that the kidnappers moved the victims to their hideout at Amauzo Okpolu Umuobo community, Osisioma Council area.

The CP was said to have detailed SARS commander in Abia, SP Johnbull Obioguru, and the C.T.U. men to fish out the criminals and resue their innocent victims.

On the same night of Wednesday, the SARS Commander with his team stormed the kidnapper’s hideout which happens to be the home of one of the kidnappers and resued their victims.

When the kidnappers saw the SARS team coming towards their direction, they opened fire and the SARS team responded and overpowered them despite the fact that they had superior firearms and they took to their heels abandoning the victims in their hideout.

During the gun duel with the hoodlums, two of the criminals sustained gunshot injuries and escaped with it. Recovered from the criminal’s hideout is a Techno cell phone suspected to belong to the hoodlums, and an RX 350 Jeep belonging to one of the victims.

At the criminal’s hideout, the police arrested the wife of one of the criminals who is a nursing mother. She is living in the same building where the kidnappers kept their victims.

The new commissioner of police was two weeks ago deployed to the State.
