The newly posted Commissioner of Police in Abia State,Janet Agbede has expressed sympathy over the recent killing of late Friday Arunsi of Ebem Ohafia in Ohafia local government area of the State by a team of policemen said to have acted under the influence of alcohol, assuring the family justice, ABN TV reports
She also expressed disappointment over the level of damage caused as a result of the protest that greeted the killing in the area, especially the torching of the police station and a customary court in the community.
CP Agbede stated this on Saturday when she led a delegation of senior police officers from the command for on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
While describing the damage as terrible and unimaginable, she underlined that the Inspector General of Police has constituted a committee headed by a deputy commissioner of police whom she said has commenced an investigation and will soon assess the level of damage caused.
She also pointed out that the command is making efforts to put in place a temporary police station in the community in the coming days to enable the officers to perform their duty effectively.

On efforts by the police authority to stop constant confrontation with the locals, she said top echelon of the Force has been organising lectures for the rank and file to enhance their relationship with the public, saying the senior officers will not be everywhere to regulate the conduct of the junior officers.
Youths of the area were said to have protested the killing of their kinsman which led to the burning of the police station and other public facilities.
