The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 51-year-old woman, identified as Mrs. Emmanuel Love Onuora, who reportedly died on board a commercial tricycle in Aba, Abia State.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, sparked public concern after the woman’s photograph surfaced on Facebook, with several commenters identifying her as “Aunty Love,” a teacher at a popular school in Aba.

Confirming the development to ABN TV on Thursday, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, stated that the deceased had boarded a tricycle operated by Mr. Okechukwu Sunday, a native of Anambra State residing in Aba, for a regular trip along the Aba Road.

According to Chinaka, during the journey, another passenger flagged down the tricycle to join. However, both the rider and the new passenger noticed shortly after that Mrs. Onuora had become unresponsive.

“The tricycle rider reported the incident to the Area Commander in Aba,” Chinaka explained. “Police officers were deployed to the scene, and the woman was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where she was confirmed dead.”

She added that the body had been deposited in the mortuary while investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death are ongoing.

“The crime scene has been visited, and an investigation is still ongoing,” the police spokesperson said.
