The Kano State Police Command has detained three individuals for having N129,542,826,000.00 worth of counterfeit money.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest of the suspects on Tuesday.
He said the counterfeit currencies included the US dollars, CFA, and naira, as well as those also stolen from another dealer of the funds.
“Counterfeit currencies equivalent to a total sum of N129,542,823,000 were recovered,” Kiyawa said.
He said the fake currencies included $3,366,000, CFA 51,970,000, and N1,443,000.
According to him, two suspects were arrested with the money, and the other person from whom the money was stolen had been apprehended and is currently in police custody, assisting the police with the investigation of the actual producers of the counterfeit money.
Haruna said the command had recovered six live ammunition, three tricycles, eight motorcycles, and three parcels of 175 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The police spokesperson further revealed that the command had recovered 250 pieces of diazepam tablets, 278 sheep, and seven cattle as part of recoveries made by its operatives.
“These approaches have resulted not only in the apprehension of criminals but also deterred potential offenders from engaging in criminal activities.
“Major cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, thuggery, and drug dealings have been surmounted,” Haruna said.
