Police Arrest Armed Thugs In Federal Lawmaker’s Imo Residence

Imo State Police Command operatives arrested suspected political thugs on a mission to disrupt the state’s recently concluded presidential election on February 25 in Ohaji/Egbema council area.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Owerri, Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO) of the command, Henry Okoye, said the armed thugs were raided on credible intelligence inside the Umorji country home of Hon. Kingsley Uju, who represents Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta/Oru West federal constituency in the National Assembly, Abuja.

The suspects are all from Imo State and include Henry Nwabueze, 40, of Umorji in Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Achor David, 45, of Onitsha Mgbara in Ohaji/Egbema LGA, and Tochukwu Obiego, 40, of Mgbara in Ohaji/Egbema LGA.

Others are Clinton Ezekwe, 49, a native of Ohaji/Egbeme LGA, and Onuorah Raphael, 33, who hails from Ngor-Okpala LGA.

One pump-action gun, three locally manufactured guns, an HP printer, four laptop computers, and documents containing voter registration details from the Oguta/Ohaji-Egbema/Oru West LGA were recovered from them.

50 live cartridges, one LG remote, a power bank, one walkie-talkie, three laptop external keyboards, a Toyota Camry with registration number GWA574AZ, and a Toyota Corolla with registration number NKK 837GK were also recovered.

They also recovered eight mobile phones, a Belushi wristwatch, one ring, and N15,000 cash.

According to the police, the suspects used the lawmaker’s home as an operational base and will be charged in court once the investigation is completed.
