Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the February 25 presidential election, is still the candidate for a better Nigeria.
According to ABN TV, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, named Bola Tinubu, the then-candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress and now-President of Nigeria, as the election winner.
The announcement was followed by court actions filed by opposition parties and candidates, notably LP and Obi, disputing the procedure that resulted in Tinubu’s election as winner.
Former President Obasanjo recently told media personality Chude Jideonwo that, despite President Tinubu being declared the victor of the previous election, Obi remained the candidate that the country requires.
He said, “For the Nigeria that I believe we need to have at this point, Peter Obi is still the best candidate.”
On what he considered his greatest legacy, the former president said, “That I came here [earth] and God was immeasurably kind to me and showed His grace on me.”
