PDP Still Standing Strong, Critics Are “First-Class Dreamers”

A prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has dismissed claims that the party has become irrelevant, describing those behind such narratives as “first-class dreamers.”

Speaking on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, Chief George addressed concerns about the PDP’s strength following recent defections and ongoing political speculation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He maintained that, despite some challenges, the PDP remains the most structured and organised political party in Nigeria.

“Those who say PDP is finished are simply dreaming,” he said. “In terms of political management, ownership structure, and the camaraderie we share, no other party comes close. There’s a reason I call the PDP the ‘Iroko’ of Nigerian politics — our roots run deep.”

Internal Crisis Resolved, PDP Now United

Chief George also revealed that the PDP has resolved its internal crisis following its 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. He said the party is now united and better prepared for the 2027 elections.

“Crisis is part of every organisation,” he explained. “What matters is how you respond. We chose to sit down like a family, speak truthfully, and find common ground. That’s exactly what we did, and today, we’re stronger for it.”

He added that lessons have been learned from past divisions and assured party members and Nigerians that the PDP will not repeat the same mistakes going forward.

“From July 1 to 2027, we’re focused, united, and ready,” George said. “We’re calling on everyone who may have drifted away—welcome back home. The house is ready to receive you.”
