PDP: Saraki Urges Members To Stay United Amid Party Crisis

Former Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remain steadfast and united despite the party’s current internal challenges.

He urged loyalists not to give up but to work together to rebuild the PDP and uphold its legacy.

Saraki’s message came in a heartfelt statement shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, following his participation in a PDP Consultative Conference organized by one of the party’s founding fathers, Professor Jerry Gana.

“It was an honour to join the Founding Fathers and stakeholders of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, today at the Consultative Conference,” Saraki wrote.

Reflecting on the party’s contributions during its 16 years in power, Saraki highlighted the PDP’s role in fostering national development and unity, noting that under its leadership, Nigeria became Africa’s largest economy.

He cautioned against abandoning the party in difficult times and emphasized the importance of staying for the right reasons.

“Let’s not abandon a ship in need of repairs. If you must leave, let it be on ideology—not anger,” Saraki urged.

“The ultimate goal must be to put Nigeria first and rise above the propaganda designed to divide us as a party.”

Saraki also praised Professor Gana for convening the conference, describing it as a timely and much-needed “family meeting” to foster reconciliation and strategic dialogue.

Reaffirming his dedication to the PDP, Saraki declared his unwavering loyalty and called on fellow members to do the same.

“The PDP was built on solid foundations. Its founders handed it over to us with trust. God forbid that we become the generation that lets it fall apart,” he stated.

“I urge all true patriots of the PDP to agree that for the greater good of Nigeria, leaving is not an option.”
