Parents In Abia Community To Face Fines For Not Sending Children To School

In a bid to tackle the growing concern of parents neglecting their children’s education, the community of Ikwuorie Ohanku Ndoki, Abia State, has introduced a new measure. As from yesterday, September 3, 2024, parents who fail to send their children to school will be required to pay a fine.

This decision was reached during a meeting with local leaders, including chiefs, town council members, and youth leaders. The move aims to address the worrying trend of parents prioritizing farm work over their children’s education, despite the availability of free schools.

HRM King Apostle Chibuzor, who established the first OPM free school in Ohanku, has been instrumental in providing access to education for the community. The school is fully funded through tithes and offerings from the OPM Church.

The new rule seeks to ensure that children in the community receive the education they deserve, rather than being forced into farm labor at a young age.
