Chelsea star Cole Palmer is one of six players shortlisted for the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year award, announced on Friday.
The 33-year-old forward was instrumental in Liverpool’s Premier League title-winning campaign, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists. Salah has already been named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, receiving nearly 90% of the vote—the largest margin of victory in the award’s history. He is widely regarded as the frontrunner for the PFA accolade.
Joining Salah on the shortlist are Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, and Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes.
Palmer, who claimed the PFA Young Player of the Year award for the 2023–24 season, was a somewhat unexpected inclusion given Chelsea’s overall struggles last season.
Rice had a standout year at Arsenal, recording a personal best of nine goals and contributing 10 assists across 52 matches in all competitions.
Isak impressed for Newcastle, netting 23 goals as the club secured Champions League qualification and lifted the League Cup—their first major trophy in 56 years.
Despite Manchester United enduring their worst top-flight campaign since 1973–74, Fernandes remained a bright spot, tallying eight goals and 10 assists in the league.
The 2025 PFA Awards ceremony will take place in Manchester on August 19.
