A pro-political support group, the Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) Movement in Arochukwu Local Government Area, has condemned the recent communiqué released on August 2, 2025, regarding the 2027 Abia North Senatorial race, describing its signatories as “political jesters” and “lightweights with no electoral relevance.”
In a press statement signed by the Chairman of the OUK Movement in Arochukwu LGA, Hon. Precious Ngwu, the group dismissed the individuals behind the communiqué as impostors who are neither members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) nor credible voices in Abia politics. He alleged that many of them are card-carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), acting on behalf of a “desperate and unpopular figure” seeking political relevance ahead of 2027.
Ngwu said the so-called meeting which birthed the communiqué, was a gathering of failed politicians—some of whom previously held appointive positions such as commissioners but could not deliver their polling units in the last general election. He added that despite years of public service, they have no visible achievements to show for their time in office.
Responding to their claim of marginalization of Ohafia LGA in political representation, Ngwu reminded the public that the zone had previously produced a senator in the person of Senator Onyeka Okoroafor from Abiriba. He also highlighted the decades-long political legacy of the late Chief Ojo Maduekwe from Ohafia, who served in various high-profile national capacities, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Transportation, Minister of Culture and Tourism, National Secretary of the PDP, and Nigerian Ambassador to Canada.
Ngwu further argued that Ohafia LGA has continued to enjoy substantial representation in both state and federal government. He listed recent political office holders from the area to include the current and immediate past Deputy Governors (with a combined 12 years in office), former House Speakers Rt. Hon. Arua Arunsi and Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu, former Deputy Speaker Ifeanyi Uchendu, the incumbent House of Representatives member for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, and even the current Governor and Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Abia State.
Describing Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the “Ikenga of Ohafia” and a visible performer, Ngwu highlighted his impactful projects in Ohafia. These include road and electricity projects in Nkporo Okwe, Abiriba, and the Ebem–Asaga–Ndi Ibe–Amuma–Okon–Amangwu Ohafia axis; ongoing infrastructure works in Ndi Orieke, Abia, Isiugwu, and Ndi Uduma Awoke; and the renovation and construction of more than 50 public schools in the area.
“Except for Professors Eni Njoku and Kalu Ezera, no other leader can match Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s developmental impact on the people of Ohafia,” Ngwu emphasized.
He concluded by declaring that Senator Kalu’s continued representation beyond 2031 is not only justified but welcomed by constituents who value performance over sectional sentiments.
“Leadership should be based on capacity, delivery, and the will of the people—not on imaginary injustice or selfish interests,” he stated.
Ngwu urged the people of Abia North to stand against divisive politics and work collectively for continued development, unity, and credible representation.
