Mr. Enyinnaya Appolos, former chief press secretary to the immediate past Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has faulted the process that produced the incumbent governor Alex Otti, saying it is fraudulent.
Speaking with ABN TV on Friday, the governor’s former aide said due process was not followed before Otti was pronounced the winner of the March 18 governorship election but did not disclose further details, saying the matter is still before the court.
He said the candidate of the PDP in the governorship election, Chief Okechukwu Ahiwe is not satisfied with the process that produced Otti, for which he is seeking judicial interpretation.
Responding to those who are questioning PDP for going to court, Appolos said, “Is it not unfortunate that anybody would try to deprive another man his right of asking question because what the PDP and its governorship candidate is saying is that we are not satisfied with this process.
“When you are not satisfied with a process, you call that process a fraudulent one. For us, it is a fraud and that is why we are in the court to challenge the process.
“It’s fraudulent because things we believe should have been done were not appropriately done. The matter is already in court, it’s not everything I would say so that it won’t become sub-judice”, he stated.
Appolos further faulted the claim by governor Otti that ex-governor Ikpeazu’s mandate in 2015 was stolen, saying the pronouncement of the Supreme Court which affirmed Ikpeazu the duly elected Abia governor invalidates the assumption that the 2015 mandate was a stolen one.
Appolos insisted that until the courts pronounce otherwise, Otti’s mandate will remain a fraud in his eye and that of Abia PDP.
