In a bid to fight youth restiveness, the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries (OPM) worldwide, Apostle Dr Chibuzor Gift Chinyere says the ministry will soon begin training kids enrolled in its primary school on free skills acquisition.
While noting that this is also an effort to catch them young, the respected man of God said this would prepare the kids for the future, so that by the time they get into secondary schools, they are already equipped with skills and can engage in economic activities.
Apostle Chinyere stated this on Thursday in Port Harcourt when he donated a plot of land to a widow and an undisclosed amount of cash to commence construction, along with some relief items.
“We have decided to introduce skills from primary school so that before they enter or finish from secondary school they will become very perfect in their desired skills,” Apostle Chinyere said.
He stated that pupils will be trained on furniture making, generator repairs, car painting, tailoring, electrical/ electronics repairs, food and nutrition, etc.
The purpose of this training according to the Man of God is to be acquainted with useful skills that can help them to be financially independent by the time they go into higher institutions.
“When they enter university, they enter with skills, they are already feeding themselves without depending on their parents for feeding”
He added, “When they graduate from university, while they are waiting for their dream job they will not be pressured to go into crime for survival because they are already making money”.
According to the Man of God, this is another crime control measure which will help bring about Peace, progress, prosperity, and national development adding that the programme will be funded through tithes and offerings from OPM church.
