Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) Worldwide has expressed displeasure over the lingering rivalry between Mbazulike Amaechi and Jim Nwobodo, threatening to severely deal with the elders’ statesmen.
The group accused the duo of launching attack and counter-attack against each other on the pages of newspaper, saying they have failed to provide leadership to the young generation of Igbo.
In a statement issued by the President General and Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike respectively, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council called on Amaechi and Nwobodo to desist from playing active roles but advisory.
OYC vowed to punish and discipline both men if they continue in their old ways.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide is a Content-based global organisation populated by disciplined and Principled younger Generation of Igbos with a clear sense of Igbo history with accurate records and that holds in high esteem the Igbo dignity, image, and Unity, and have the Courage to sanction and discipline any Erring Elders, whose Adult delinquent activities had repeatedly brought shame and disaster to Igbo Nation.
“Igbo Youths had read in the pages of National Newspapers the allegations, attacks, and counter-attacks from those who supposed to Provide Leadership directions to the Igbo Nation based on their blessings of age, wealth of experience and was expected to be the centralised Political fortresses for Igbos in the absence of Igbo legends like Zik of Africa, Dim Odumegwu Chukwuemeka Ojukwu and Alex Ekwueme, but Contrary to our Collective expectations these Elder statesmen of 90years and 80 years old allowed their obvious Selfishness and insatiable desires, to make them fight dirty and wash their dirty linens in public, without explorations of Igbo Internal mechanisms and cultural processes of settling disputes privately as Igbo custom demands, but without mindful of the Consequences of such their regrettable actions in the pages of National newspapers will portray Igbos before the public especially regards to 2023 Igbo Presidency Project.
“Since Both Respected Igbo Elder statesmen had renewed their old unhealthy rivalry which began in early 80s, Which Can never be seen amongst their Contemporaries from the North, West or Niger Delta, Igbo Youths advice both Igbo Elders to quietly retire from active politicking, speaking on behalf of Igbos without Proper Consultations, repent from their old fashioned ways, Concentrate on their health, take responsibility and pray over their past mistakes and Misdeeds that never brought good fortunes for Ndigbo during their primetime careers in Governance.
“We had Uncovered untold sad memories and Stories of these two Elder statesmen from the history books of Igbos, their activities and roles which had Constantly never changed the misfortunes of Igbos since after the Civil war,at 90 Years and 80 years old, Igbo Youths wish both of them happy retirements and We will facilitate their retirement benefits to avoid such show of shame in the future.
“We wish to Categorically Warn that the future of Igbo Nation now lies in the hands of younger Generation of Igbos that never participated in the civil war, and the post-civil war Generation of Igbos are Committed to change tactics and narratives of old fashioned ideas, any Elder statesman who stands on the Way of the Youths will be severely punished and disciplined, Both Mbazulike Amaechi and Jim Nwobodo are not permitted to play any active role except for advisory services towards Project 2023 Nigerian President of Igbo Extraction,” OYC said.
