Ohafia Leaders Write Sen. Kalu, Say Unrest Not Targeted At Him [VIDEO]

Leaders of Ohafia Local Government Area have commended the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for visiting the council area during his ward-to-ward tour.

The leaders in a statement signed by Prince Emma Nwosu on Saturday afternoon said Kalu’s visit was a clear demonstration of his love for the people of Ohafia clan.

According to the statement, the incident that happened at one of the wards where hoodlums had an armed confrontation with men of the Nigerian Army from the 14 Brigade was not targeted at Kalu, who is the Senator representing Abia North senatorial district.

The leaders commended Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for attracting numerous projects to the clan like the Ebem -Asaga-Ndi Ibe- Amuma-Okon-Amangwu road; and the Ndi Uduma Awoke, Isiugwu, Akanu- Abia Ohafia roads, vowing to give him their maximum support during the 2023 general election.

The statement read in part: “Your Excellency, our distinguished senator, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, Mon, the Chief Whip of the 9th senate, National assembly of the federal Republic of Nigeria.

On behalf of Ohafia community, we wish to express our unreserved gratitude and appreciation to you for finding time inspite of your busy and tight schedule, to embark on the Ward tour of Ohafia clan for the mid-term legislative report designed to interact and render an account of stewardship to the constituents. It was an impactful event which we have never witnessed before since the return of democratic governance in 1999.

“Your Excellency, your visit was a clear demonstration of love and open-mindedness towards the people of Ohafia, and we were indeed honored by your presence.

“Despite the incident that took place in one of the wards, which was not in anyway targeted at you, the Ward tour was a huge success, demonstrated by the carnival-like reception accorded you in all the wards visited. That was a true reflection of the love and acceptance of Ohafia people to you.

“Our distinguished senator, be rest assured that you are part and parcel of Ohafia Udumeze and dearly loved by the people.

The incident witnessed, is at variance to the spirit of Ohafia traditional hospitality, which is condemnable and unacceptable, and we pray that it will not repeat itself.

“Sir, we commend your efforts and determination to take Ohafia to greater heights in spite of scheming by detractors and enemies of the community. We also commend your numerous achievements in the areas of infrastructural development and poverty alleviation.

“Thank you “ome nke afuru anya”, We shall remain grateful for the much you have done and the much you are still to do.

“We wish you many more years of fruitful and selfless services to nde Ohafia, Abians and Nigerians.”
