Ohafia Jubilates As Gregory Ibe Medical And Surgical Outreach Commences (Photos, Video)

The people of Ohafia local government area of Abia State received with excitement on Saturday the medical personnel from Prof Gregory Ibe Medical and Surgical Outreach who were in the local government for the 2022 Statewide free medical exercise.

 

Prof. Ibe is the governorship candidate of APGA in Abia State.

The exercise which is expected to go statewide is currently ongoing in Abia North Senatorial district.

Medical services offered at no cost by the outreach programme include: physiotherapy related issues, optical cases, acute and chronic diseases, free consultation for all diseases, blood pressure and weight checks, free drugs among others.

Flagging off the exercise earlier, Professor Ibe who was represented by his running mate and member representing Aba South state constituency, Hon. Obinna Ichita disclosed that the programme was designed to diagnose and treat over 20,000 patients in the state.

He says arrangements was also perfected with some partnering medical centres to handle surgical operations for needing patients, while all treatment procedures, inclusive of the surgeries will be delivered to the patients at no cost as the entire exercise is free of charge.

Hon. Ichita who recalled the incident encountered by Prof. Ibe during his recent visit to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where he paid medical bills of trapped patients, disclosed that the outreach will also be carried out in the 17 L.G.As and also to the ward levels.

A team of healthcare personnel comprising Medical Doctors, Ophthalmologists, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists, Nurses and Midwives were effectively and efficiently executing the exercise.

Shortly after she was attended to by the medical personnel at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church, Ebem, Ohafia, an Octogenarian, Mrs Comfort Onwuka who had issues with her eye sight coupled with severe headache said the free medical outreach has brought much-needed succour to the citizens, particularly the elderly.

She disclosed that some of them have gone to hospitals where they were given bills that they could not afford, adding, “This medical outreach has brought hope to our people”.

Mrs Onwuka whose hope of living longer became alive, appreciated the vision of Prof. Ibe which is to provide world class health services to Abians and to give free medical assistance to needy populace of the state.
