Ohafia Bids Farewell To 98-Year-Old Matriarch, Mrs. Afor Kalu Uwa

The Umu Ezie maternal lineage of Asaga and the family of Chief Iro Nkwo Agwu of Ebem, both in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, have announced the funeral arrangements of their beloved matriarch, Late Mrs. Afor Kalu Uwa.

Mrs. Uwa, popularly known as Nma Afor Aki Obuba, passed on at the age of 98 after a life of immense impact on her family and community. She was celebrated as a devoted mother, aunty, grandmother, great-grandmother, and in-law, whose legacy of love, care, and service spanned nearly a century.

The funeral ceremony is slated to begin on Thursday, April 24th, 2025, with a Service of Songs by ECWA Church at her residence in Asaga Ohafia by 4:00 PM. This will be followed by a wake keep later in the evening at the residence of Chief Iro Nkwo Agwu, located at No. 27 Federal Government College Road, Ebem Ohafia.

The final burial rites will take place on Friday, April 25th, 2025, with an open-air funeral service by ECWA scheduled for 10:00 AM at Uma-Ukpai Primary School Field, Asaga Ohafia. Interment will follow immediately after the service, with a reception at the same venue.
