The Ogun State Police Command on Saturday announced the arrest of 22 suspected cultists, including two soldiers, during a midnight raid on Hilton Hotel in Osiele, Abeokuta.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the operation was carried out on July 25, 2025, at approximately 8:20 p.m., following credible intelligence.
“A joint team consisting of operatives from Odeda Division, Aregbe Division, the Anti-Cultism Unit, and SWAT, led by SP Adejoh Israel, stormed the hotel where suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity were gathered,” Odutola said.
Among those arrested were two soldiers, 19 male suspects, and three female suspects. Recovered from the scene were a cut-to-size locally made gun, a UTC axe, and several blue beret caps—items commonly associated with the cult group.
Odutola confirmed that no casualties were recorded during the operation.
She further disclosed that all suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Anti-Cultism Unit in Eleweran for further investigation.
“The Ogun State Police Command remains steadfast in its efforts to rid the state of cultism and other violent crimes,” she stated, urging residents to continue providing reliable information to support security operations.
