Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah has expressed sadness of the deaths of Lady Adanma Okpara and Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi, former First Lady of the Old Eastern Region and Former Nigerian First Lady respectively.
Lady Adanma Okpara who died at the age of 97 was married to the iconic Late Dr. Micheal Iheonukara Okpara who served as Premier of the old Eastern Region from 1959 to 1966 while Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi was the wife of late Nigerian head of state, Major General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi. She passed on Monday at 97. She would have been 98 on November 21, 2021.
In a condolence message on Monday, Ogah described the duo as virtuous women whose roles helped their husbands in achieving great successes at the various capacities they served the country.

According to the Minister, Lady Adanma Okpara exemplified humility, knowledge, and human kindness throughout her lifetime, saying she was a model to women.
He added that Lady Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi was a demonstration of courage and resilience and has continued to keep faith in the country several decades after her husband’s death.
While calling on women and indeed all Nigerians to take a cue from the commitment of the duo in building the bridge of peace, he prayed God to grant their souls eternal rest.
