Following weeks of speculations, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress APC in Abia State, Chief Amobi Ogah has formally dumped the party.
In a letter of membership resignation on Friday addressed to his ward 8 chairman, Ikeagha, Isuikwuato local government area of the state and sighted by ABN TV, he said this has become necessary following justifiable pressure from his supporters.
The letter partly read, “I wish to tender my resignation from the party with effect from today, 18th day of March, 2022.
“This has become necessary following pressure from my supporters which I find justifiable.”
He also thanked the party for its support in assisting achieve his political goals while his membership lasted.
Though he did not announce his new party, there are insinuations that he may join the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Chief Amobi who was an aspirant for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency in the 2019 election had earlier met the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu in his office in Umuahia.
Though details of the meeting was not disclosed to newsmen, sources told our correspondent that it is not unconnected with moves to secure the PDP ticket for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency ahead of the 2023 polls.
