Ogah Commiserates With Abia Govt, Family Of Prof. Ikonne On His Demise

Former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah has commiserated with the government and people of Abia State, particularly the family of Prof. Eleazear Uche Ikonne on their patriarch’s demise.

Prof. Ikonne until his passage in the early hours of Wednesday was the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s governorship candidate in Abia State.

A family source says he passed away at the Abuja national hospital after a brief illness.

Dr Ogah in a condolence message on Wednesday expressed sadness over the PDP candidate’s death, noting that Abia has lost a bright son who as a former ABSU vice-chancellor has contributed immensely to the development of the State.

He said, “It is truly a sad day for our dear state as we have lost one of our brighter minds to the cold hand of death. A sound academic, his cannot be forgotten for his efforts in repositioning ABSU where he held sway as vice-chancellor.

“A true definition of gentleman, Prof. Uche Ikonne was a committed patriot whose desire for a new Abia was unpretentious.

“On behalf of my family, I commiserate with the government and people of Abia and pray God to grant the family and all those affected by the demise the fortitude to bear the loss”.
