NYCN State Chairmen Unite Behind Sukubo for Continued Youth Leadership

The Forum of State Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has endorsed the incumbent President, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, for another four-year term ahead of the council’s National Elective Congress in September.

The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued on Thursday after the Forum’s meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State. It was signed by Amb. Abdulsalam Abdulquadri Olusegun, Chairman of the Chairmen’s Forum/Chairman of Oyo State Chapter; Comr. Shamsu Ibrahim Shamo, Secretary/Chairman of Katsina State Chapter; and Comr. Kokoriko Raphael, PRO/Chairman of Bayelsa State Chapter.

Representing chairmen from all 36 states and the FCT, the Forum said its support for Sukubo was based on his impactful leadership and dedication to championing the interests of Nigerian youth.

“We acknowledge his leadership and efforts in promoting the interests of Nigerian youth,” the communiqué stated.

The chairmen pledged to mobilise nationwide support for Sukubo’s re-election, while noting that their endorsement does not exclude other qualified aspirants from contesting for the NYCN presidency.

They also backed the recent constitutional amendments adopted at the council’s annual National Congress in Port Harcourt, describing them as steps to strengthen the NYCN’s framework and operations.

Commending the Affiliation and Revalidation Committee for validating 83 out of 104 youth organisations, the Forum urged the groups to work with NYCN leadership in pursuit of common goals.

The Forum further applauded the composition of the Congress Planning Committee and National Electoral Committee, expressing confidence in their integrity and ability to deliver a transparent election.

In its closing call, the Forum urged all NYCN organs—including the National Management Committee, National Executive Council, Board of Trustees, and Advisory Council—to collaborate in deepening youth participation in Nigeria’s development.
