The Abia State command of National Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has arrested four persons over alleged involvement in vandalism and illegal dealing in petroleum products, reports.

The command gave names of the suspects as Ndubuisi Samuel, male, 20, Donatus Ogbonnaya Eze, male 29, Sule Bula, male 47, and Biliya Musa, male 31.

In a statement signed by the command’s PRO, SC Ndukwe Agu Egwu, the breakthrough is a demonstration of the commitment of the newly redeployed State Commandant, Mr. Ayinla Taiye Olowo in implementing the zero-tolerance posture of the Commandant General of NSCDC, – Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi against all forms of vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure of Government.

He said two of the suspects, Ndubuisi Samuel and Donatus Ogbonnaya Eze were arrested along Isuikwuato L.G.A of Abia State for their alleged involvement in vandalism of railway infrastructure.

He said the corps’ intelligent network has also been expanded to apprehend two other fleeing suspects.

He listed items recovered from the suspects to include about twenty-three (23) numbers of railway iron and hooks suspected to be part of the materials for the ongoing rehabilitation of the Eastern rail line.

The other two (2) suspects, Sule Bula, a native of Tambela LGA Kano State, and Biliya Musa , a native of Ankulu Channel Seven Jos Town Plateau State were arrested at about 1300hrs on Tuesday 22nd June, 2021 along Ubakala axis of the Aba/Port Harcourt expressway while conveying about ten thousand (10,000) litres of suspected adulterated AGO in a MAN TRUCK with inscription No. TAKL-131.

Parading the suspects, Commandant Ayinla Taiye Olowo said; “I am in Abia to work. My administration will promote dialogue in resolving issues. We will greatly involve the locals who we expect to provide timely information to us. However, we will come hard on vandals who are the real threat to Nation’s Economy. They have two options; either to turn a new leaf or relocate from the state as the long arm of the law will catch up with anyone caught breaching the peace of the State. My men have been strategically deployed to respond to any eventuality”.

He, therefore, advised parents to warn their wards to desist from any act capable of jeopardizing public peace as the Command will not tolerate such.
