Nollywood Star Mercy Johnson Dismisses Cancer Rumours, Assures Fans She’s Healthy

Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has debunked rumours that she is battling cancer, following speculation sparked by her recent weight loss and a viral video clip from her cooking show, Mercy’s Menu.

The rumours began circulating after an old episode resurfaced in which Mercy discussed a past health scare. However, in a video recently shared on social media, the actress clarified the situation, assuring fans that she is in good health and that the clip had been misinterpreted.

“First and foremost, thank you so much for all of you who have been calling in and sending messages and prayers. Thank you. I do appreciate it so much. But I do not have cancer,” she said.

Mercy went on to explain that the video clip in question was edited and taken out of context.

“I noticed that a clip from my TV show, Message Menu, has been flying around. And I think it was cut. They cut the clip. I said I had a cancer scare. It means that I had this swelling on my neck. If you can see the line there. And my doctor felt it was something serious. I had problems with my thyroid. I’m perfectly okay. Thank you so much for all of your calls and your messages.”

The 40-year-old actress added that while the concern from fans was overwhelming, the claims circulating online were false.

“This phone has been buzzing like crazy. I am perfectly fine. And I do not have cancer. I am perfectly okay. So, thank you so much for checking up on me. Thank you for sending all those messages. Go back and watch the clip. It was completely misunderstood. I am fine. I do not have cancer, in Jesus’ name. Thank you, guys, so much. Bye. Thank you,” she concluded.

Mercy Johnson-Okojie’s response has helped put fans at ease, as she continues to encourage responsible sharing of information, especially concerning health matters.
