“No Consensus Deal With Atiku Or Peter Obi” – Kwankwaso Speaks Out On PDP Allegation (Video)

Former Kano State Governor and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed claims of an alleged power-sharing agreement within the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, Kwankwaso labeled the supposed plan as “a complete lie.”

According to the report, Kwankwaso said he heard from a source that the PDP had engaged about 45 scholars who allegedly proposed a consensus arrangement. The plan purportedly suggested that PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would govern for four years, Kwankwaso would then take over for another four years, and Labour Party’s Peter Obi would rule for eight years.

“I heard from a source that PDP brought in scholars—about 45 of them—and claimed there was a consensus that Atiku will rule for four years, I will rule for another four years, and Peter Obi will rule for eight years. This is a complete lie,” Kwankwaso stated emphatically.

The NNPP leader’s remarks come amid speculations of alliances and agreements among opposition leaders ahead of future elections. However, Kwankwaso’s outright dismissal of the claim highlights divisions and challenges in building consensus among opposition parties.

Further reactions from PDP, Peter Obi, or Atiku Abubakar’s camp have not been made public at the time of this report.
