Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has dismissed claims that there are abandoned federal projects in Bende Federal Constituency, insisting that all ongoing developments are progressing as planned.

Addressing journalists during a media chat, Kalu specifically referenced the Ohumola Civic Centre in Igbere, which he said had been wrongly portrayed as abandoned.

There is no abandoned project in Bende Federal Constituency. All projects are ongoing. Someone went to a failed 20-metre portion of the 5.8-kilometre Bende–Ozuitem Road and started spreading misinformation. That is not governance,” he said.

The Deputy Speaker also disclosed that he has, for the first time, encountered resistance from the state government while facilitating federal projects in the area.

He clarified that his concerns were not directed at Governor Alex Otti personally, but at individuals around the governor who, he alleged, may be acting based on personal political ambitions.

Kalu emphasized that transparency and cooperation between federal and state authorities remain critical to delivering sustainable development to the people.
