“Nnamdi Kanu’s Release Now A National Priority”, Says Barr. Ejimakor

The call for the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has gained nationwide momentum, becoming a key demand in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests.

According to the special council to IPOB Leader, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, the release of Nnamdi Kanu is no longer an Igbo issue, but a pan-Nigerian concern, ranking fifth among the protests’ non-negotiable demands.

The protests, which began in July, seek to address Nigeria’s worsening economic crisis, inflation, and hunger. Demonstrators are demanding:

1) A new people-made constitution

2)Legislative reform

3) Increased minimum wage

4) Investment in education

5) Nnamdi Kanu’s unconditional release

6) Renationalization of public enterprises

Sponsored

7) Corruption-free subsidy regime

8) Probe of past and present leaders

9) Restructuring for diversity and resource control

10) Enhanced security and justice

Ejimakor’s statement emphasizes the need for Kanu’s release, citing its significance in addressing the South East’s militarization and promoting national unity.

The Nigerian government is yet to respond to these demands.
