Contrary to earlier reports, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team has refuted claims that he has agreed to abide by “any conditions” for his release.
In a statement released today, the lead counsel of Nnamdi Kanu, Barr Aloy Ejimakor stated that Kanu will only abide by the “negotiated terms” of his release, as agreed upon in August 2017.
The clarification comes after a meeting between Kanu’s legal team and the leader of IPOB in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS in Abuja.
Ejimakor took to social media to set the record straight, emphasizing that Kanu’s release is contingent on the negotiated terms and not arbitrary conditions.
He wrote; “The legal team met with MAZI NNAMDI KANU today. The news that he will abide by “any conditions” for his release is incorrect. What was meant is that he will abide by the “NEGOTIATED terms” of his release & on other matters related thereto, such as was also agreed in August 2017.”
This development is the latest in the ongoing saga surrounding Kanu’s detention. Stay tuned for further updates as the story unfolds.
