Nnamdi Kanu’s Brother Says IPOB Leader Never Ordered Killing Of Anyone

Prince Emmanuel Kanu, a brother to the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu says his sibling “has at no time directed anybody to bear arms, let alone kill”.

As per multiple reports, Emmanuel who stated this on Friday in Umuahia, Abia State, southeastern Nigeria, reiterated that the Nigerian separatist leader committed no crime to warrant what he termed “persecution”.

Recall that Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture, earlier this month (July) claimed that rearrested Kanu orchestrated the killing of 60 persons and the destruction of property in 55 violent attacks across the South-East and South-South regions of Nigeria within four months.

But Emmanuel stated that the Nigerian government has no moral grounds to try Kanu.

He as well-aimed a dig at the Abubakar Malami, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation of Nigeria for not dealing appropriately with unapologetic bandits.

Emmanuel said, “My brother is a freedom fighter and has at no time directed anybody to bear arms, let alone kill.

“But some people in this country are killing and admitting that they’re the ones that killed without the government, Malami or the security agencies arresting or preferring charges against them.”

IPOB – now outlawed – is a Biafran separatist and Igbo nationalist organization in Nigeria. The group says its main aim is to restore an independent state of Biafra in the South East of Nigeria through an independence referendum.
