Nnamdi Kanu: Why Every Peace Initiative In South East Will Collapse — Sir Udensi

Interpol Systems Consultant and security expert, Sir Chikwe Udensi says no peace initiative in the South East will be meaningful if you detained leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is not released.

He said efforts by political leaders in the region will amount to seeking peace where none exists, urging them to instead pursue agenda that will ensure that Nnamdi Kanu who was forcefully brought back from Kenya by the Nigerian government in 2021 over alleged terrorism is released from incarceration.

Responding to non-release of Nnamdi Kanu while featuring as a guest on current affairs programme, Open Parliament on Love FM Umuahia , monitored by ABN TV, Udensi however expressed satisfaction with the ruling of the apex court which condemned the invasion of the IPOB leader’s home in Umuahia and his extraordinary rendition from Kenya by security forces.

He however said the nation, especially the South East region can be healed of the insecurity plaguing it if Nnamdi Kanu can be released.

The APGA chieftain however wondered why Nnamdi Kanu was referred to trial at the high court by the Supreme Court despite condemning injustices perpetrated against him, describing it as “flip-flopping”.

“What I call it is flip-flop. If you are saying that the man ought not to have been arrested in the first instance, you have also said the invasion of his house is an illegality, you are also saying that he ought not to have been denied bail, then why are you keeping him?

“That is why we are confused. The Supreme Court said what they ought to say but ended it by referring him to the apex court.

“You have again said, he ought not to have been brought back. That is why we are confused. Some of us who did not go to school, we don’t know how to put these things right”, he said.

Udensi however urged President Bola Tinubu to explore political solution to release Nnamdi Kanu instead of legal.

That way, he said there would be no victor no vanquished.

“Take political solution to it. It will bring peace in the nation, it will bring happiness, it will bring rejuvenation especially in South East and people will begin to see themselves as belonging to one nation but then the agitation has not abated because the people are still angry.

“Political solution is the way out, the legal option will be a long one”, he advised.
