The President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku has called for collaboration among experts as a key step to provide wide-range solutions to challenges confronting the world.
He made the call on Wednesday while speaking on the topic “Collective Expertise for Global Collaboration” at World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Bali, Indonesia.
He highlighted the need to leverage on core elements embedded in collaboration, which include diverse skills, shared abilities and resources, wider knowledge and access to information, enhanced sensitivity to the environment, deeper cultural insights, and a combination of effective, responsible and compassionate communication to solve societal problems.
“Collaborative knowledge is extremely important in today’s globalised society with several concerns confronting humanity; food insufficiency, insecurity, health crises, climate change, technology disruptions, terrorism and several others”, he stated.
The NIPR boss remarked that staying atop these issues which transcend borders and causing havoc to humanity is an uphill task that requires collaborative action that is driven by expertise.
He said that the future of public relations is in deepening expertise, promoting professionalism, and strengthening collaboration.
He stated that reputation, ethical standards, trends and innovation as well as cross-cultural intelligence are key attributes that promote sustainable global collaboration.
