The Federal High Court of Nigeria (FHC) will begin its 2025 annual vacation starting Monday, July 28, the Chief Judge, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, has announced.
In an official circular issued from Abuja, Justice Tsoho stated that the vacation is in accordance with Order 46, Rule 4(d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019. The vacation will run until Tuesday, September 16, 2025, with formal court sessions resuming on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
A statement from Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, the court’s director of information, explained that the vacation allows judges to rest and prepare for the new legal year ahead.
During this period, only cases deemed extremely urgent will be heard, with the court’s three main divisions—Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt—remaining operational in a limited capacity.
To accommodate urgent matters, litigants are encouraged to approach the nearest division of the Federal High Court.
The Abuja division will be overseen by Justices Emeka Nwite and Mohammed Liman as vacation judges. In Lagos, Justices Isaac Dehinde Dipeolu and Musa Kakaki will preside, while Justices P.M. Ayua and A.T. Mohammed will serve in the Port Harcourt division.
The chief judge extended his best wishes to his colleagues for a restful and productive vacation.
