Nigerians Are Undergoing Hardships For Unborn Generations To Enjoy Prosperity – Tinubu

According to President Bola Tinubu, Nigerians’ current misery is for future generations to enjoy glory and wealth.

Mr Tinubu announced this at the opening of the annual conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Abuja, saying Nigerians cannot have the type of country they want unless his government implements the reforms he launched.

“It is painful at the beginning, in the short and medium term, but we must do what we have to do to take this nation to its great destiny,” said the president.

“It is not about you, and it is not about me. It is about our generations yet unborn, for whom we must bequeath a great and prosperous country,” he added.

Mr Tinubu explained that the prosperity Nigerians require would only occur once “poverty is banished from the society” with the focused cooperation of the country’s private sector leaders.

He believes that his government’s difficult actions would put the country on a growth path, even if Nigerians will suffer the costs but benefit later.

“We must make the difficult changes that are required for our country to rise from its slumber and be respected among the world’s great nations,” Mr Tinubu concluded.

Since his inauguration on May 29, the hardships that citizens have endured have been exacerbated by the withdrawal of the gasoline subsidy, which has resulted in increasing fuel, transportation, and commodity prices.

Mr Tinubu announced the termination of fuel subsidies during his inauguration, stressing that the opportunity benefited primarily the wealthy at the expense of the country’s poor.
