Nigerian Society of Engineers Seek Investment In Primary Education

The Nigerian Society of Engineers has charged the government and private individuals to increase investment in primary education as they remain a solid foundation for the prosperity of any nation.

The Vice President of the society, Chinanza Okoli, gave the charge during the commissioning of a three-block classroom for a government primary school donated by the NSE, Bwari branch in Abuja.

According to him, education remains the corporate social responsibility of any association and the best legacy that can be bequeathed to children as future leaders.

He said, “Family and education are the two things everyone should seriously invest heavily in as it is the bedrock and focal point on which every society will grow. Look at how happy the pupils we have just provided classrooms and furniture are. It just proves to them that they are not abandoned or of a lower class in the environment. I am sure they will want to be engineers and not street urchins when they grow up because of this gesture.”

Speaking also, the chairman, Bwari branch, Ijirortimi Olanrewaju, and the immediate past chairman, Halimat Adeniran, in their welcome address, thanked the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, for facilitating the projects, recounting how the children studied in a water-logged classroom before the intervention.

On their part, the Education Executive Secretary, Bwari Local Education Authority, Tanko Isuwa, thanked the society for its thoughtful gesture while assuring that the school would make judicious use of the project for the benefit of its pupils.
