Nigerian Man To Die By Hanging For Killing His Friend Over N100

Mr. Anas Dahiru has been sentenced to death by hanging for killing his friend, Shamsu Ibrahim with a knife.

Dahiru had during a quarrel in 2017, killed his friend over one hundred naira at Unguwar Dallatu area of Gusau, in Zamfara State.

Ruling on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, Justice Mukhtar Yusha’u of the Zamfara State High Court, convicted the suspect according to section 221 of the Penal Code.

Speaking with newsmen at the court premises, the prosecution, Barrister Mansur Lawal, Assistant Director, Public Prosecution, Zamfara State ministry of justice, said he welcomed the judgment passed by the court.

On his part, the counsel to the convict, Barrister Muhammad Ahmad Jamo, who is the coordinator, legal aid council, Zamfara State office, said the judgment would serve as deterrent to others.

He, however, added that they would look at the possibility of appealing the case.
