The Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed the state ministry of finance led by Dr Aham Uko to commence payment of civil servants and verified pensioners from Friday, 27/03/2020 and conclude latest Monday 30/3/2020.
Describing the directive as compassionate, the state Commissioner for Information Chief John Okiyi Kalu in a release made available to ABN TV said it is aimed at ensuring that workers and verified pensioners have money to stock up food in the event of a lockdown in the state.
“The Governor has also directed the conclusion of pension verifications on Friday, 27th March, 2020.
“Governor Ikpeazu also mandated the Inter-ministerial Committee on Coronavirus to commence issuance of daily updates to citizens till further notice” the statement concluded.
