Nigeria Police Strengthens Collaboration With Interpol To Enhance Regional Security

In a bid to enhance regional security and improve policing strategies, the Nigeria Police Force is intensifying its collaboration with Interpol to boost intelligence sharing, operational coordination, and capacity building across borders.

Recently, a high-level meeting was held in France on April 27, 2024, where the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun PhD., NPM, met with top Interpol officials, including the President, Major General Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, Vice-President for Africa, AIG Garba Baba Umar (Rtd.), and Secretary General Dr. Jurgen Stock. The meeting focused on strategic partnerships to combat transnational organized crime.

Other attendees included chiefs of police from various African regions, including East, North, West, Central, and Southern Africa, as well as top officials from the Interpol secretariat.

The IGP emphasized that the collaboration will facilitate the exchange of expertise, experience, and networks between Interpol and the Nigeria Police, enabling a unified approach to tackling cybercrime, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and kidnapping in the African region.
