Governor Alex Otti has challenged Nigerians to embrace discipline, innovative thinking, and strong educational values as the keys to rebuilding the nation, declaring that “we truly can do better.”
In his address at the Oxford Global Think Tank Leadership Conference themed “Better Leadership for a Better Nigeria,” Otti argued that development is a “human function and a rigorous intellectual exercise,” not the product of natural resources.
He noted that countries with limited mineral wealth have achieved great progress through knowledge-driven systems, while resource-rich nations continue to struggle due to leadership failures and poor human capital utilization.
The governor emphasized that education reform and curriculum modernization must go beyond policy announcements to effective implementation that prepares students for the challenges of the modern world.
“Our schools must produce thinkers, innovators, and nation builders — not citizens tied to the world of their forefathers except as history,” he stated.
