Nigeria @61: Benjamin Kalu Urges Youths To Be Part Of Nation Building

As Nigeria marks its 61st anniversary since the attainment of Independence, member representing Bende federal constituency, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has urged youths in the country to be part of efforts in laying the bricks of nation-building to make an indelible mark to the development of the nation for themselves and the generations to come.

He made this appeal in a statement titled ‘HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, NIGERIA‘ personally endorsed by him at the commemoration of the country’s Independence anniversary, ABN TV reports.

He charged young people in the country to take advantage of this significant national historic date to ensure they let their efforts count in the building of a new Nigeria.

Hon. Kalu who doubles as spokesperson of the House of Representatives while noting that the day presents an opportunity to reflect on the struggles of our heroes past, the joy and fulfillment of the victory which they attained called on Nigerians not to disregard the strength of the country’s unity and the beauty in our diversity despite glaring fault lines.

He said, “As we reflect on our journey so far, there are inevitable flaws that may have inhibited our growth and progress, however, we will not ignore the reasons for which we should continue to be steadfast in this journey to becoming better together. We will not disregard the strength of our unity and the beauty in our diversity. As with every other nation in world, there are flaws that we can strive to perfect and become a better society by common effort.

“It is important that we come to the realization that Nigeria and every part of it will only make progress when we all embrace peace and tolerance for all irrespective of our beliefs and ethnicity.

“Today, as we commemorate our 61st year as an independent nation, I urge all Nigerians to embrace the spirit of patriotism and uphold the peace, unity and love that should be a binding force to us as a people. I encourage every citizen to be part of building this nation as every successful society is built on collective work.”

On behalf of Bende Federal Constituency, Hon. Kalu prayed for Nigeria’s continued peace and progress.
