Newly recruited teachers in Abia State have begun receiving their outstanding three-month salary arrears, fulfilling the promise made by Governor Alex Otti earlier this week.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Ugochi, confirmed to ABN TV on Thursday that she had received her full three months’ salary. She described the development as a huge relief and praised the Governor for his swift intervention.
According to her: “I have received my three months’ salary arrears today. God will bless Governor Alex Otti for his swift action to make our salary drop.”
This follows the Governor’s assurance during the November edition of Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians, where he pledged that all outstanding payments to newly employed teachers would be cleared before Sunday night.
Government authorities are also advising teachers to ensure they submit complete and accurate commercial bank account details to avoid payment delays and ensure seamless processing.
The commencement of payment has sparked excitement across the education sector, with many teachers expressing renewed confidence in the administration’s commitment to strengthening the state’s workforce and enhancing learning standards in Abia schools.
