Netflix Responds To Rumors Of Leaving Nigeria

Following reports of its departure that surfaced online, streaming service Netflix has refuted claims that it plans to leave Nigeria.

The rumour, which sent shockwaves in the Nigerian entertainment industry, gained traction following a viral statement by famous Nollywood director, Kunle Afolayan.

In a widely circulated video, Afolayan said that Netflix purportedly cancelled numerous commissioned projects, prompting questions about the company’s long-term commitment to Nollywood.

In response to the outcry, Netflix eventually addressed the notion in an email by its public relations firm, Hill & Knowlton Strategies.

Edafe Onoriode, the Group Account Director, reaffirmed the company’s continued support for Nigeria’s creative economy.
