An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has raised alarm over the continued neglect of the South-East region in national matters, warning that such marginalization could come with serious repercussions.
Igbokwe made this known in a post on his official Facebook page on Saturday, amid growing concerns over alleged lopsided appointments in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
His statement follows criticism by Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, who recently expressed displeasure with the pattern of appointments and cautioned that the imbalance could backfire.

While the Presidency has maintained that appointments under President Tinubu are strictly based on merit, concerns over regional representation continue to fuel debate across the country.
In his reaction, Igbokwe emphasized the lingering effects of past injustices against the South-East, stating, “If Nigeria continues to treat the South-East as if the zone does not exist or does not matter, the consequences will be huge. The civil war has ended, but the scars are still there. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Neglect of SE is bad.”
The APC stalwart’s comments have added to the mounting voices urging the federal government to ensure fairness, equity, and inclusiveness in governance to foster national unity.
