NECO Records One Of The Highest Candidate Turnout, Hits 1.2m Applications

The National Examinations Council, NECO has recorded one of the highest number of senior secondary school candidates at a single sitting, as one million, two hundred and five thousand, eight hundred and eighty eight applicants registered for this year’s exercise.

NECO Registrar Professor Dantani Wushishi released the figures in a statement signed by Head of information, Azeez Sani.

Sani said the Registrar who monitored the conduct of the ongoing examination in some schools in Plateau, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Jigawa and Bauchi states, said 601,074 candidates are male and 584,814 female.

According to the statement, the registrar was satisfied with the general conduct of the 2023 SSCE based on reports nationwide.

He said the 2023 SSCE which will be concluded next week, is the most organized in recent years, as the various measures put in place to check examination malpractice yielded positive results.
