NBM Of Africa Rolls Out Palliatives To Support Vulnerable People In Abia

A non-governmental organisation, Neo Black Movement of Africa has introduced palliatives for members and non-members in Umuahia and environs to help them cushion the effect of stay-at-home order issued by Abia state government to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

Speaking with ABN TV on Friday, the Umuahia zonal President of the group, Elder Ikechiuku Ikechi said as a responsible organisation, members came together to lend support to each other even as many families face difficulties over the lockdown pronounced in some states of the Federation.

According to Elder Ikechi, it became imperative to also help non-members and other vulnerable groups with financial, material as well as moral support to make life more liveable for them.

He also said apart from the support rendered to cushion the COVID-19 effects, the group has in the past supported orphanage home, staged a campaign to enlighten the people on a healthy lifestyle to avoid contracting coronavirus.

The President expressed gratitude to the chairman of Umuahia zone, Mr. Ifeanyi Okali for being the first to donate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the zone, supports the agenda of the group and participating actively in its activities.

He thanked Abia State government for taking proactive steps by declaring a lockdown to ensure the protection of Abians from the disease.
