NBM Africa Expresses Worry Over Killing Of Kaduna Students, Others, Urges Buhari To Act Now

Neo Black Movement (NBM) of Africa, says it is worried over the escalating insecurity in the country particularly the killing of about five students of Greenfield University Kaduna, abduction of three students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makudi, Benue state, another attack on a security formation in Rivers State which led to the death of five soldiers on Monday 26th of April, 2021.

The Movement while sympathizing with parents and relatives of the murdered students reiterated that no one is safe in the country, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to rise to the occasion and bring to an end the orgy of killings and kidnappings across the country.

In a statement titled, NBM OF AFRICA CALLS ON PRESIDENT BUHARI TO TAKE STEPS TO TACKLE CHALLENGES OF INSECURITY IN THE COUNTRY, the President of the Organization, Olorogun Chukwudi Kakor (JP), says the events around the country send a signal that our school environments are no longer safe for our children to learn, maintaining that there is every reason to be apprehensive.

The release added, “In this regard, The President of NBM of Africa is calling on President Muhammed Buhari to confirm the appointment of Mr. Usman Alkali Baba as Inspector General of Police to act in full capacity, so that he can work with other security operatives to tackle the insecurity in our dear Nation. Furthermore, NBM of Africa condemns the attack on the Nigeria Police Force and other government agencies in the Eastern part of the country by unknown men. Nigeria is the only country we have and we cannot sit down and allow the country to be thrown into lawlessness, kidnapping, and banditry.

“The Nigeria police and other security apparatus must be proactive in tackling kidnapping and banditry. President Muhammed Buhari must show the political will to end this insecurity. This is his last term in office and he must do everything within his power to leave a good legacy.

“NBM of Africa wants to commend the effort of the Governor of Bornu and urge all other Governors in the Nigeria Governors forum to support him and share intelligence on best practices in the collective effort to curb insecurity, NBM of Africa believes the fight against insecurity is a collective responsibility and not the government alone.

“NBM of Africa call on well-meaning Nigerians, civil society, religious bodies, Non-governmental organization to put hands together; speak up and act to end this insecurity in our country. Anyone can be a victim, no one knows who may be the next target, hence our call for all-inclusiveness in the fight against insecurity in our dear nation… Security is a collective responsibility.”
