Nigeria’s National Grid experienced its 12th collapse this year on Wednesday, leaving large parts of the country in darkness.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:09 p.m., marking yet another setback in the nation’s electricity supply.
Reports indicate that the grid has failed 11 times since the beginning of 2024, with three collapses recorded within a single week in October alone.
In a statement shared via its official Twitter handle, the National Grid management confirmed the incident, stating: “A major grid setback has occurred, and the restoration process is underway.”
The frequent grid collapses continue to underscore the challenges facing Nigeria’s power infrastructure, raising concerns about reliability and sustainability.
