In a last-ditch effort to avert a nationwide strike, the leadership of the National Assembly is currently meeting with organised labour in a closed-door session.
The meeting, presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, aims to find a compromise and prevent the strike scheduled to begin soon.
Akpabio urged labour leaders to show understanding, assuring that the National Assembly is committed to finding a solution. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, is also in attendance.
Key ministers and labour leaders, including NLC President Joe Ajaero and TUC President Festus Osifo, are participating in the meeting. The outcome of this emergency session will determine the fate of the strike, which threatens to paralyse economic activities nationwide.
