A non-governmental organisation working for improved development outcomes in economic governance, environment and community livelihoods, Policy Alert, has announced that its Open Gov Hackathon 2019 will hold on 21-22 November, 2019 in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the organisation’s Programme Officer (Anti-corruption and governance reforms) Faith Paulinus in Uyo.

Themed “Combating corruption through open budgets”, the hackathon is open to software developers, technology enthusiasts, data scientists, civil society activists, policy experts and others between the ages of 18 and 35 who are passionate about using technology to improve governance.

It will generate innovative, viable and scalable solutions addressing issues of transparency, accountability and citizens’ participation in the state’s budget process.

Organised in partnership with Actionaid Nigeria through its Supporting Citizens Resistance against the Prevalence of Corruption (SCRAP-C) project, the 24-hour event will commence by 4pm, 21st November and end by 4pm, 22nd November, 2019 at HUBITZ, 69 Enwe Street, Uyo.

Other partners include Start Innovation Hub, Open Government Partnership (OGP) Nigeria and The Roothub.
